A dream tour pairing Fleetwood Mac with the Eagles has reached the stage of a proposal.
The idea of a US summer tour featuring the two legendary bands, who over the last decade have been consistent concert draws, is currently being pitched to arena and stadium promoters and operators. The double billing is under consideration for single nights in football and baseball stadiums as well as multiple night arena stands.
Over the last few years, the supply for national stadium tours has slimmed down. This year U2 did fill venues with 70,000 seats in cities all over the country. However a majority of stadium shows have recently been one-offs. In addition The Police reunited and Madonna have been successful recently with stadium shows.
Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles once shared the bill at a stadium, in Foxboro, MA at Schaefer Stadium on July 25, 1976. The headliners were the Eagles. Earlier that year they had released their great hits album. At that time Fleetwood Mac was touring to support their self-titled album. It was the first featuring Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. Within the same year of the concert both bands released albums elevating them into superstar status, “Rumours” and “Hotel California.”
