Henley’s solo career apart from the band has been decent and he had a big hit in the 1980s with his song “Boys of Summer.” He will be the second Eagles band member this year to release a new solo album. In May Joe Walsh released the first solo album from him in 18 years.

Songs from all of the solo careers of the band members will also be performed, in addition to Eagles classics. An acoustic set is also planned for the concert mix.

Punt said be able to hear a live performance if the Eagles is an unforgettable experience. Many would agree with him.

Paul Barsom, composition associate professor at Penn State’s School of Music said, when Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh and Don Henley are put together, the amount of style and compositional experience there makes it hard to really go wrong.

Barsom also said that the music of the Eagles holds cultural importance also due to the fact that it has transcended different generations, which makes them among the musical business’ best musicians.

The generation of college aged students are also very excited about the upcoming Eagles performance.

Travis Cunningham, wildlife and fishery science freshman said, this is my type of music.

Travis says he enjoys the lyrics and superior songwriting of the band.

It turns out the Cardinals won’t be the ones receiving the first cheers from KFC Yum Center. It will be birds with different feathers.

The Eagles will be playing the inaugural concert for the new downtown arena in Louisville on Saturday, October 16.

The new $238 million arena in Louisville is current under construction at Main and Second streets. The opening had been scheduled for November. The primary tenants of the arena will be the women’s and men’s University of Louisville basketball teams. Other sporting events, family shows, conventions and concerts will also be hosted there.

According to Louisville Arena Authority Inc.’s chairman, Jim Host, the opening date for the arena has been moved and will now open in early October. Louisville Arena Authority Inc, is overseeing the 22,000 seat venue’s development.

M.A. Mortenson Co., the project’s construction manager based in Minneapolis, has committed to completing their work by October 9. At that time they will handing the keys to Louisville Arena Authority.

According to Host, several previews, including private and public tours, will precede the concert over the week of October 10. A VIP black tie celebration for those a part of the construction of the arena is scheduled tentatively for October 14.

Starting on Friday, June 18, Eagles show tickets will be going on sale. Prices will be $180, $115, $68 and $37.

Tickets can be purchased at the box offices for Kentucky International Convention Center and Freedom Hall, at Ticketmaster.com online, at Ticketmaster outlets or by phone at 800-745-3000.

Timothy B. Schmit, Joe Walsh, Don Henley and Glenn Frey make up the Eagles. They are currently out on the band’s “Long Road to Eden Tour.” The Eagles will be performing songs that span across their 35 year plus career.

The band has sold over 120 million worldwide albums, had five No. 1 hit singles on Billboard and earned a total of six Grammy Awards. Hit singles include “Take It to the Limit,” “Life in the Fast Lane,” “Desperado” and “Hotel California.”

AEG, the booking agency based out of Los Angeles, was able to land The Eagles with help from Harold Workman, CEO and president of the Kentucky State Fair Board.

AEG has been contracted by the fair board for booking major concerts for Freedom Hall and the new arena.

Host says he is ecstatic that the first concert for the downtown arena will be The Eagles. They are my favorite band of all time. They transcend all ages. They are as popular with now among the youth as they were in the 70′s with us,

Host had high praise for Mortenson and their pledge for completing the arena on budget and early. He said the work by the company was unbelievable. They are the best. They do just what they say they will do.

Host had praise for area’s labor force as well for their outstanding work that was making the arena possible.
