A few additional dates have been added by the Eagles for their forthcoming North American trek ahead of their launch next week.
Last month, the veteran rockers wrapped up their “Long Road Out of Eden Tour” of 2008. On January 12, they will be back out on the road in Hampton, VA and through the month will have a dozen performances along the East Coast as well as South. Then the itinerary skips to March with another dozen shows taking place mostly in the Midwest as well as Canada. Dates added since last check include Chicago, Detroit and Moline, IL. On January 12 tickets will be going on sale for the new dates.
As part of Ticketmaster’s new program called “all-in ticketing” tickets will be sold for many of these shows at their advertised prices without any additional convenience fees added. In November Ticketmaster announced the program after acquiring a controlling stake in Front Line Management Group, Irving Azoff’s company. One of their clients is the Eagles. Azoff is now CEO for the new entity called Ticketmaster Entertainment.
A six week European tour has also been booked by the Eagles. It will be launched in late May. Additional information regarding the dates is on the Eagles website.
The ongoing tour has Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Timothy B. Schmit and Joe Walsh performing classics from the Eagles repertoire, hits from their respective solo careers as well as songs from “Long Road Out of Eden,” their album from last year that marked the first new material collection from the band in 28 years. The outing in 2008 to support their new album was North America’s No. 3 best selling tour. According to Pollstar, the concert trade publication, the tour sold tickets worth $73.4 million.
“Long Road Out of Eden,” the two disc set, topped the Top Country Albums and Billboard’s 200 charts. It has now gone platinum seven times, with help from hit singles “How Long” and “Busy Being Fabulous.” “How Long” earned the fifth Grammy Award for the Eagles.
