Eagles, Kid Rock, Chesney on Bill for CMA Awards

According to a recent press release, The Eagles are one of the performers that has been recently announced for the CMA’s 42 Annual Awards show which will air live on November 12 from Nashville’s Sommet Center. The Eagles have received their third nomination for CMA’s Vocal Group of the Year.

The Eagles will be joining a very eclectic lineup of performers that have been recently announced, including Lady Antebellum, Kid Rock and Trace Adkins. The Wailers, in addition, will be making their debut at the CMA Awards. They will join Kenny Chesney to perform “Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven,” their No. 1 ranked collaboration from the upcoming album by Chesney “Lucky Old Sun.”

Other performers at the CMA’s this year will be the co-hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley as well as Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Sugarland, George Strait, Miranda Lambert, Alan Jackson, and Brooks & Dunn.

Eagles, Coldplay, Alicia Keys Top AMA Nominations

The Eagles, Coldplay and Alicia Keys led the pack for American Music Award nominations that were announced on October 14 for 2008.

Leading the field was Keys with her five nominations. The Eagles and Coldplay were right behind Keys with four each. All of the three top nominees, along with Lil Wayne and Chris Brown, have been nominated for Artist of the Year.

Award nominations, which comes in several different categories including Contemporary Inspiration, Latin, Adult Contemporary, Alternative, Soul/R&B, Rap/Hip-Hop, Country and Pop/Rock, were announced at a Beverly Hills press conference by Jimmy Kimmel, the comedian. Awards will be announced on November 23 during a broadcast live in Los Angeles at Nokia Theatre.

Nominations for the AMA awards are based on sales figures from Nielsen SoundScan and Radio & Records, trade magazine for the music industry. For the second year in a row, an online vote from the general public will determine the winners. Previously, winners were selected from a national sample of approximately 20,000 individuals.

The collection of votes will continue through November 7.
