Austin City Limits, with one of the last summer concerts to be offered, is scheduled to end the summer concert season on a high note. Their festival will be held over three days from October 8-10 and feature as nightly headliners Flaming Lips, The Strokes, M.I.A., Phish, Muse and the Eagles. Among the over 130 bands to perform at Zilker Park in Austin are Norah Jones, the Black Keys, the National, Monsters of Folk, Spoon, LCD Soundsystem and Sonic Youth.

Single day Austin City Limits Festival tickets are currently on sale. Last October three day passes went on sale for $145 and sold out in just 14 hours, which was a record. The bands hadn’t even been announced yet. Austin City Limits will be offering three day VIP passes in limited numbers for music fans with deep pockets.

The Strokes, garage rock revivalists, will be performing at Austin City Limits following their Lollapalooza headlining performance. Phish, the jam improvisers, will wrap their summer tour up in August. Their performance at Austin City Limits will be their only visit this year to Texas. The lineup for the Austin City Limits festival includes an eclectic mixture of indie rock performers as well, including Devendra Banhart, Matt and Kim, Gogol Bordello, Band of Horses, the Morning Benders, Girls, Beach House, the xx, Yeasayer and Broken Bells.

The Austin City Limits Festival website has a complete list of the performers in addition to other festival information.

Two additional shows have been added by the Eagles to their “Long Road Out of Eden” tour, which is in-progress. The trek includes stadium dates with Keith Urban and the Dixie Chicks.

The tour continues on May 9-10 with a stand of two nights in Vancouver. It now includes a June 17 show in Raleigh NC as well as a finale on June 26 in Dallas.

According to the Eagle’s website, tickets will be going on sale on May 3 for the new shows.

The veteran soft rockers in June will be launching a set of shows along with the Dixie Chicks. Keith Urban will also join them for most cities. That part of the leg will start in Toronto on June 8.

The Eagles are continuing to support “Long Road Out of Eden.” The album was released in 2007 and was the first new studio set from the band since “The Long Run” in 1979. The album debuted in the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s 200 chart and sold 711,000 copies in the first week of its release. According to a Nielsen SoundScan report, it was the top selling album of 2007 by a group.

In addition, “Long Road Out of Eden” earned the Eagles two Grammys. For “How Long” they won Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 2008. In 2009 “I Dreamed There Was No War” won Best Pop Instrumental Performance.
